An Elden Ring player has found a symbol on the game's map which could possibly be a hidden code, adding to the never-ending list of mysteries surrounding the franchise. What's more notable is the fact that the player found the same symbol in another location in Elden Ring, which further suggests that it could have a much larger significance.
The release of Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is barely a few weeks away, and the hype around it has ramped up significantly lately. The fact that FromSoftware revealed that Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will be the first and last expansion the game will ever receive has made it even more important to the fan base. Several players have been starting new playthroughs to prepare for the release, with many fine-tuning their builds to get their characters well-equipped for the Land of Shadow. As they progress through the game again, players might have another intriguing mystery to solve.
In a new post on the Elden Ring subreddit, user Hyrulehero101 highlights an interesting detail they spotted on the game's map. In one of the bodies of water on the map near Limgrave, there are a few symbols, some of which also appear to be illegible since they are faded. However, one of them is quite prominent, and by the looks of it, it does seem like a hint toward something.
While many would consider the marks to be random gibberish on the map, it should be noted that this symbol can be found in another place. If players head to the Multiplayer menu of Elden Ring and use the Group Password Setting option, they will find the symbol, along with four others on the menu. The symbol does start to make much more sense here since it is basically equivalent to tally marks. Instead of the number five having a diagonal cut, it's the number four that has it, with number five again looking similar to the traditional variant.
