Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC isn't too far away right now, releasing in just over a month's time on June 21. There's still quite a lot of time to get theorizing about the game's big bad guy, story, characters and everything else inbetween, but one of the more interesting fan theories that has surfaced recently is all about the game's setting.
Despite us having seen the Land of Shadow in the DLC's lengthy gameplay trailer released earlier this year, we still don't quite know where it is. We know we have to interact with Miquella's outstretched arm protruding from his cocoon, and take down Mohg and Radahn as well, to access the DLC, though theories are still flying about where it's actually located, given we've already uncovered 99 percent of the map. However, Reddit user George2J reckons it's been above us this entire time.
Instead of hiding in the middle of the ocean somewhere, George2J puts forward their case for why The Land of Shadow is actually upside down and in the sky, and uses various screenshots from the trailer and potential evidence from the base game in their hypothesis. They also point out that Elden Ring has a history of making things topsy-turvy, pointing out the library players have to flip upside down to get to one of the game's Great Runes.
George2J then turns their attention to the Shadow of the Erdtree trailer, noting that the sun and moon are a lot larger than in the base game, the clouds hang rather low, and there's a very noticeable lack of stars in the trailer shots that take place at night. You wouldn't exactly see stars if you're upside down now, would you?
Finally, other fans that have latched
