Fallout fever is at an all-time high thanks to the new Amazon show, so much so that it's bleeding into other games.
Baldur's Gate 3 fans even added power armour to the Sword Coast .
YouTuber Mojo Swoptops has recreated the iconic Fallout 3 city Megaton in Far Cry 5 Arcade on Xbox Series X, meaning that the entire thing was done in-game without any external tools. The only third-party addition is the Fallout 3 HUD which they created themselves in Photoshop.
The clip starts within the city, so we don't get to see that striking silhouette with a jet engine poking out the front. But inside, things are incredibly accurate. It starts with the slow descent down the dirt, rubble-laden path, leading into the shanty town erected around a nuke festering in radioactive water. The lighting feels a litttle closer to Fallout 4, but there's a tinge of the iconic green filter.
Unfortunately, there's no cowboy wannabe we can poke fun at, but you can make out the walkway to Moriarty's Saloon, the armoury, the Children of Atom's little shack, and the steps to the clinic.
We don't get to see much outside of the centre of the city, but its a pretty compelling glimpse into what Fallout 3 could look like in current-gen. Slap a Vault-Tec sticker on the nuke and voila, you've got yourself a remake.
During the FTC case over the Activision Blizzard King acquisition, internal documents leaked revealing several unannounced Xbox projects, Fallout 3 and Oblivion remasters among them.
Bethesda hasn't commented on the leaks, so it's unclear if these remasters are still in the works, but the studio at least at one point considered bringing Fallout 3 to modern hardware. Maybe one day we'll step foot into a revamped Megaton for ourselves. Question is, will you nuke it this time?
