Dragon's Dogma 2 is finally here, and Capcom has been enjoying quite a lot of praise from both critics and fans in the run-up to launch. Unfortunately, it now seems to have thrown all of that hard-earned goodwill down the drain, as Dragon's Dogma 2 has launched to "Mostly Negative" user reviews on Steam after Capcom has seemingly added a series of "pay-to-win" microtransactions after the game's reviews were published.
At the time of writing, Dragon's Dogma 2 has well over 1,000 negative user reviews on Steam, with the vast majority of them taking issue with the game's new microtransactions. You can try to delete your save file, but there are player reports that it's replaced by the game's in accessible cloud save upon deletion. Right now, the only way to change your character is to find or purchase the required item.
Other items that have now been added to the Dragon's Dogma 2 Steam store include Wakestones, the items required to bring NPCs back from the dead before they're gone permanently, and Rift Crystals, the currency that players use to purchase special items and hire Pawns. It's worth noting that most of these items can also be found in game, but their addition as microtransactions has rankled a previously excited fanbase.
