Dead Island 2 has announced the exact date and times it's set to launch on Steam across the world. The zombie-mashing action adventure game was released on Xbox, PlayStation, and Epic Games Store almost exactly a year ago, unfortunately skipping out on Steam users. Despite its long and troubled 9-year development cycle across three different studios, Dead Island 2 released to positive reception, as it provides ample first-person melee action fun in incredibly vivid and iconic zombie-torn Los Angeles environments.
Only a few days ago, Dead Island 2 released its second story DLC, named SoLA. Following up its first DLC that came out in November, Haus, SoLA is set in a sunny LA music festival, where players are tasked with finding the source of a strange warning message. Both of Dead Island 2's DLCs add about two to three hours of new content to the game. While many players feel like the DLCs are too small, they do still add interesting locations alongside the main game's offerings of Bel-Air, Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, and other iconic areas.
Dead Island 2 has revealed it's making its Steam debut a year and a day after its initial 2023 launch, on April 22. The Dead Island Twitter account posted a world map graphic indicating the exact time the game is set to go live on Steam across the globe. Gamers in LA can expect Dead Island 2 to hit Steam at 8:00 AM, while New Yorkers can grab it at 11 AM. Across the pond, Londoners will get it at 4 PM, and Steam gamers in Tokyo can delve into Dead Island 2 at midnight.
With Dead Island 2 about to become available on every major gaming platform, the game is sure to see a boost in playercounts now that Steam users are gearing up to gain access. Furthermore, the game's online multiplayer may see a boost as well. While Dead Island 2 doesn't support full crossplay, Steam and Epic users will still be able to team up for a nasty zombie-crushing spree.
