While the franchise may be a dormant entity, a group of extremely talented fans unveiled a trailer for a hypothetical third game in the franchise that looks incredible. Rare's iconic «collect-a-thon» platformer series starring the bear Banjo and his sidekick Kazooie is known as one of the best games available for the Nintendo 64 due to its creative world, robust suite of movement options, and boundless content. Given the fact that it's been nearly 20 years since the last mainline game, fans are still returning to the world with some imaginative, exquisitely designed concept trailers.
Posted to YouTube by Project Dream, in collaboration with DarkGruntMusic, LankyTurtleMedia, and facts_about_bk, the teaser trailer for demonstrates what the franchise would look like if were created for modern hardware.
The footage shows off various elaborate stages, including a dank swamp populated by a horrifying Lovecraftian monster, what appears to be a tailor's shop equipped with appropriate cross-stitch character designs, and even Tooty's colorful castle. isn't in development and the teaser just serves as a fun imagining of what such a project would look like.
The team behind the trailer went one step further by also including an excellent pitch for the game's story, which would be set 24 years after Gruntilda's defeat in. The narrative follows the iconic duo as they're once again called to action to save the Isle O' Hags from a new threat that's known only as The Toymaker, who's seemingly shown as a puppet master character towards the teaser trailer's end. There are even extensive descriptions for each of the concept stages including Grunty's Nightmare, Spiral Mountain, Banjo's Wasteland, and The Toy Factory.
