After debuting in early access this week out of the blue, Supergiant Games’ Hades 2 is off to a strong start. According to SteamDB, the rogue-lite hack-and-slash title has peaked at 103,567 concurrent players on Steam alone. It’s currently sitting at 16,101 user reviews with 95 percent positive for an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating.
That’s a sizable jump from the original game, which exited early access in September 2020 and peaked at 37,749 concurrent players on Steam. However, the latter has seen renewed interest lately, likely because of the sequel, peaking at 40,332 players yesterday.
Hades 2 will remain in early access for Steam and the Epic Games Store until at least the end of 2024. While Supergiant Games doesn’t have a release date for 1.0, it will continue adding new story content, characters, progression systems and a new weapon with major updates over the coming months. As of now, it has more fully-voiced characters, enemies and areas than its predecessor.
