It's been just four days since Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR's CUT launched on PC, and already, it looks like another win for Sony.
Around twelve hours ago, SteamDB registered a new concurrent player peak record for the game. At 77K users, Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR's Cut has surpassed Sony Santa Monica's God of War, which peaked at 75K. Of course, Helldivers 2 is in another league entirely with its peak of 458K concurrent users from three months ago. Then again, Helldivers 2 is a purely online game, a category that regularly dominates Steam charts. While Ghost of Tsushima offers a cooperative multiplayer mode called Legends, it was added for free post-launch as more of a thank-you for players. The game's meat and bones is the vast single player campaign.
User reception has also been favorable. 88% of the over nine thousand user reviews are positive, thanks to the polished port delivered by Nixxes. The game offers features like NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Frame Generation, DLAA, NVIDIA Reflex, AMD FSR Frame Generation, and Intel XeSS. PC gamers can also mix and match upscalers; the creator of benchmarking software CapFrameX mentioned getting over 100FPS at 3840x1600 with an Intel Arc A770 card on High Settings, Intel XeSS set to Quality, and AMD FSR Frame Generation enabled.
If you aren't familiar with Ghost of Tsushima, here's what I thought of the game when I reviewed it for PlayStation 4, rating it 9/10:
Ghost of Tsushima is Sucker Punch's best game yet and a great open world title capable of measuring to some of the biggest names in the genre. The excellent rendition of feudal Japan, along with its well-written characters and story, make Ghost of Tsushima stand out as the last must-have PlayStation 4 exclusive.
The game was also a great commercial success, selling nearly 10 million copies in the first two years after its debut on the console. John Wick
