Remedy has strongly suggested that it will reveal Alan Wake 2‘s first paid DLC expansion at the Summer Game Fest showcase.
A new message posted on the game’s official X account makes reference to Night Springs, which last year Remedy confirmed would be the name of the first expansion.
The message tells fans they can “join the percolation on June 7”, the same date the Summer Game Fest presentation will take place.
Night Springs is the name of a fictional TV show which appears in the Alan Wake universe, and is an obvious imitation of The Twilight Zone, with references to Twin Peaks thrown in.
As previously announced by Remedy, the expansion seems to take place in or around the show itself.
“Visions and dreams,” its description last year read. “Fiction is written and coming true. Fiction collapses and remains just words on a page. These are those stories… in Night Springs.
“Play as several familiar characters from the world of Alan Wake and experience the unexplainable in multiple self-contained episodes of Night Springs, a fictional TV -show set in the world of Alan Wake.”
Night Springs was previously scheduled to be released in “late spring” – it’s not clear yet if it has been delayed, but if not this could suggest that its appearance at Summer Game Fest will come with an announcement saying its release is imminent, if not immediate.
Night Springs is the first of two paid expansions planned for the game, the second being The Lakehouse (which has no set release window yet).
According to Remedy, the Lake House ” is a mysterious facility situated on the shores of Cauldron Lake set up by an independent government organization to conduct secret research… until something goes wrong”.
