Fallout 76 Fans Nuke Phil Spencer Following Xbox Studio Closures

Xbox closed down four studios this week, including The Evil Within developer Tango Gameworks and Dishonored developer Arkane Austin. The backlash has been overwhelming, and Matt Booty only added fuel to the fire yesterday when he said that the company needs "smaller games that give us prestige and awards", perfectly describing Tango's recently released Hi-Fi Rush.

Faith is dwindling in Microsoft's strategy like never before, and nothing sums that up like Fallout 76 players nuking Phil Spencer's camp out of frustration.

In the main Enclave quest 'I Am Become Death', you enter a silo bunker full of robots. Once you've dispatched the clankers, you find a launch control centre where you can enter a nuclear keycard and decrypted launch code to fire a warhead. You choose where it drops with incredible precision, so one fan aimed the bomb at Spencer directly.

@Sam_Snydes shared this moment on Twitter, attaching a photo of the blast zone on the map which you can see above. It went viral, garnering 42,000 likes in just six hours. It even attracted the attention of the player who fired the bomb.

As it turns out, we have @real1090jake to thank, who even shared a video of them standing in the radioactive storm that quickly ensued. They also shared pictures of their character running up to Phil Spencer directly (who was wearing deep space alien power armour), but he wouldn't accept a challenge to fight; "He got me by a couple [levels], if he would've agreed to scrap I would've mini nuked 'em."

Now that the community knows it can find Phil Spencer in Fallout 76 and grief him by way of nukes, everyone is rallying to join in. It might be time to get Fallout 1st and load up a private server, eh?
