Genshin Impact has officially revealed that it will increase the device performance requirements with the release of Version 5.0. HoYoverse's most popular live service game has a tight update schedule, which allows players to experience new pieces of content every couple of weeks.
Since Genshin Impact arrived back in September 2020, it has received multiple adjustments that targeted in-game performance along the way, from graphic improvements to reducing overall game size. According to a recent official report, Version 5.0 could introduce some very significant changes to the game's general performance.
An official Genshin Impactannouncement has confirmed that HoYoverse will raise the device performance requirements once Version 5.0 arrives in order to improve the overall visuals and functions of the game. Luckily for many players, Genshin Impact will keep the same minimum requirements. However, stricter optimization strategies could decrease the resolution and overall visual quality of some in-game objects for players using the affected devices. A lot of Travelers claim that they would gladly see a visual decrease if it would improve Genshin Impact's FPS performance.
Many fans in the comment section praised HoYoverse's decision to improve the overall visual quality of the game while keeping the same minimum requirements. However, performance updates in the past have stirred controversy. HoYoverse's decision to replace the SMAA and TAA anti-aliasing techniques with FSR 2.0 in 2022 received major backlash after many complaints that the game's graphics were actually downgraded.
