Netflix has enlisted five actors to the cast for its upcoming limited drama, which hails from Feel Good creator and star Mae Martin.
According to Deadline, Suits alum Patrick J. Adams has been tapped to play recurring guest-stars in the Wayward miniseries, along with Patrick Gallagher (Big Sky) and Josh Close (Killers Of The Flower Moon). Meanwhile, Alyvia Alyn Lind (Chucky) and Sydney Topliffe (Davey & Jonesie’s Locker) have been cast as series regulars who will be joining previously announced cast members Martin, Sarah Gadon and, Brandon Jay McLaren.
“The series is a thriller set in a bucolic but sinister town that explores the insidious underbelly of the ‘troubled teen industry’ and the eternal struggle between one generation and the next,” reads the logline.
Initially titled as Tall Pines, Wayward is created and executive produced by co-showrunner Mae Martin, who’s also leading the ensemble cast. Martin is set for the role of Alex Dempsey, with Gadon playing their partner named Laura. Meanwhile, Topliffe and Lind will be portraying the roles of best friends Abbie and Leila. As for Adams, the SAG nominee is expected to play a high school counselor.
The series is executive produced by co-showrunner Ryan Scott, Ben Farrell, Hannah Mackay, Jennifer Kawaja, and Bruno Dubé. This marks Martin’s latest collaboration with Netflix after previously working together in the short-lived dramedy series Feel Good and in Martin’s comedy special Mae Martin: SAP which debuted last year.
