Call of Duty Mobile dataminers have revealed a Mythic MG42 skin that plays out an entire battle sequence after inspecting it. The Call of Duty Mobile skin seems to be the first of its kind within the franchise and sets a new bar for expensive in-game items.
Despite the recent launch of Warzone Mobile, competitor Call of Duty Mobile is still chugging along and recently launched its newest seasonal update on April 17. The update added the MG42 LMG, a World War 2-era weapon that many Call of Duty fans are probably familiar with. Activision had already confirmed that a Mythic MG42 skin featuring an animated battlefield on it was coming to the game, and while this piqued the curiosity of some, fans were left in the dark until dataminers recently took it upon themselves to reveal the skin.
The skin itself takes on the appearance of a war-torn WW2 battlefield, and after inspecting it, an animated sequence that lasts about 30 seconds plays out on top of the LMG. Twitter user LeakersOnDuty posted a video showing the MG42 skin's entire inspect animation. During the sequence, soldiers try to advance across a miniature battlefield as planes fly over, bombs explode, and gunfire is exchanged. Towards the end of the animation, a voiceline plays that says «We fight for the generations to come,» as a picture commemorating a fictional group of WW2 soldiers floats toward the screen. And if all that wasn't enough, an original song composed by Hans Zimmer plays during the animation.
The MG42 skin is called The Campaign and will presumably be available soon in Call of Duty Mobile's in-game shop for a relatively expensive price. The skin is also reactive, meaning its flame and smoke effects intensify as a user earns more eliminations throughout a match. Following the reveal of the impressive skin and the launch of Season 4, Call of Duty Mobile seems to have a bright future ahead of it, despite previous worries that Warzone Mobile could replace it.
It's certainly a good time to be a mobile
