Fallout fans are an interesting bunch. So many characters in the series are morally dubious, lacking basic empathy, non-human, or perhaps even a winning combination of the three. So, you'd think that would leave us with very few heartthrobs to choose from, but you'd be wrong. It just means we have what some would call an acquired taste, accumulating in many players finding ghoul characters pretty hot in particular.
This is now a fact that Walton Goggins, who plays Cooper Howard (or The Ghoul) in the show is now very aware of. Over on his Instagram, Goggins just reposted a tweet that references the hoards of fans who find his ghoul character attractive, bringing this unique part of the fanbase to his attention.
The tweet in question refers to the recent phenomena of people in the Fallout fanbase, especially women, finding The Ghoul hot. This isn't too surprising when you remember that for many of us, this isn't our first rodeo, and we've been down bad for irradiated hotties since Hancock in Fallout 4 - who was thankfully romanceable. I'm sure some of you were into them before that too, back when ghouls looked even freakier. There's no judgment here, don't worry.
On the fanfiction website AO3, John Hancock/Female Sole Survivor is the most popular pairing in the entire Fallout series. In fact, both top spots are taken up with non-humans. I love this community.
Anyway, back to the tweet. Goggins must have found it amusing, as he's shared it on his Instagram story, as well as quoting the description of his Fallout character: "Homeless radioactive cowboy with no nose". Yup, that about sums it up. Glad he's taking it in good spirits.
So, if you're one of the many fans making your love of The Ghoul known to the world right now, just be aware that his actor might read what you're writing. Welcome to the fanbase, Goggins. I'm sorry we're like this.
If you're a fan of Goggins' character, you're in luck, as Fallout has been renewed for a second season. This follows
