Final Fantasy 14 director and producer Naoki Yoshida has revealed that players will be gifted a free Fantasia upon the release of update 7.0, giving us the chance to alter their character's appearance following the release of the Dawntrail's graphics update.
Final Fantasy 14's Dawntrail expansion is fast-approaching (too fast, please stop, I need to catch up), along with an ambitious new graphics update that should give the title a much-needed facelift. Pretty much everything in the game is being updated, including player characters, which means that our Warriors of Light may look a little different once the graphics update drops next month.
We all know how picky people can be when it comes to making sure your character is looking perfect (guilty as charged), so the fact that this upcoming graphics update could unintentionally make some of our characters look a little different from what we intended was a fairly big source of concern among players. Thankfully, Square Enix has thought it through, and will be giving everyone the chace to change their character's appearance for free.
During today's live letter stream, Yoshi-P explained that everyone will get a free Fantasia once Update 7.0 drops next month, an item that lets players edit their appearance that you usually have to purchase with real cash from the Square Enix store. Upon the release of Dawntrail and the graphics update, a low level quest will be made available in Ul'Dah that will give everyone a Fantasia as a reward, though the actual level of the quest wasn't revealed.
On top of that, this Fantasia will be a little different to your normal ones. Once it's popped, players will be able to re-edit their characters as much as they like for 60 minutes of gameplay. That wa, you can travel to various location throughout Eorzea to see what your character looks like with updated graphics, and then make adjustments accordingly.
It's definitely a big win for Final Fantasy 14 players, and a nice surprise
