Oscar winners Nicolas Cage, J.K. Simmons and more have officially joined cast for the upcoming drama film about addiction.
“The Prince chronicles an addict’s tumultuous odyssey through the high-stakes world of power, pleasure, and pain on a transformative journey toward recovery,” reads the initial synopsis.
Besides Cage and Simmons, it has been confirmed that Scott Haze (Venom), Giancarlo Esposito (Parish) and Andy Garcia (Ocean’s Eleven) have also been cast for the upcoming project, which hails from Pulitzer Prize-winning scribe David Mamet. The Prince will be directed and produced by Cameron Van Hoy (Flinch), with Sean Wolfington, Jo Henriquez, and Lije Sarki also serving as producers. The film will be executive produced by John Devaney, CJ Kirvan, and Jose Luiz Zapata.
“It’s amazing to work with David Mamet on this wildly original screenplay,” Van Hoy said in a statement via press release. “Collaborating with him, Academy Award winners Nicolas Cage and J.K. Simmons, along with Giancarlo Esposito, Andy Garcia, and my dear friend and collaborator Scott Haze, is a dream.”
Besides The Prince, Cage will next be seen in the serial killer movie Longlegs, and in Prime Video’s live-action Spider-Man Noir series. Meanwhile, Simmons is currently attached to star in multiple high-profile projects, including Red One, The Accountant 2 and SNL 1975. As for Esposito, he was recently cast to play a villain in Marvel Studios’ long-delayed Captain America 4 movie.
