Blizzard hopes to resolve the Diablo 4 memory leak on PC via a new patch that is planned to release next week.
Even before the game's global release last month, Diablo 4 has been suffering from a memory leak issue on PC. This issue can result in performance problems as well as freezes and crashes (bye-bye Hardcore characters), especially on lower-end systems. Luckily, as confirmed by Diablo 4's Global Community Development Director, Adam 'PezRader, Fletcher on Reddit, the team aims to resolve the memory leak via next week's patch. According to Fletcher, this patch is slated for a release on July 18. "This one’s been tricky", he wrote in a Reddit post. "But some good news, we believe we have something for the update on 7/18."
The Community Development Director refers to next week's launch of Season of the Malignant, which will kick off on July 20. The patch will be downloadable as of July 18.
In other Diablo 4-related news - Fletcher has also said that the game's development team is aware that fans have been asking for a Rebirth feature in the game - a feature that was present in Diablo 3 but hasn't been implemented in Diablo 4 just yet. "Rebirth isn’t a feature in D4 yet. But we’ve heard this a bunch so the team is aware.", Fletcher wrote on Twitter when asked about the feature.
For those unfamiliar with the Rebirth feature - rebirth allowed a non-seasonal character to be converted to a seasonal character while resetting progression, gear, and level.
We'll update you as soon as we learn more about next week's patch and the possibility of the Rebirth feature being added to Diablo IV. For now, stay tuned.
Diablo 4 is available worldwide now for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
