Diablo IV Season 1, entitled “Season of the Malignant,” launches in a couple of days, but Blizzard has already dropped their big 1.1 update in anticipation of the season. That means the new content and changes coming to the core game are available as of now.
For those who haven’t been keeping up, you won’t be able to jump into Diablo IV Season 1 content until you’ve finished the main game, and you’ll have to roll a new character, but some things like Altars of Lilith, cleared fog of war, and their associated Renown carries over. As of update 1.1, Altars and Fog of War are now account wide, you just need to log in with the character you’ve made the most progress with for it to be registered. Blizzard has also boosted the amount of gold of items you’ll get at World Tier II, but are significantly reducing the bonus XP for killing higher-level monsters.

Level scaling has also been adjusted in dungeons and the overworld in World Tier III and IV, with monsters actually lagging behind you if you level up enough. So, for instance, if you’re a level 60, you’ll be encountering level 55 monsters. This should help you feel you power more, but will result in less XP. Of course, some balance changes have also been made, with Barbarians, in particular, being nerfed, although Sorcerers and others haven't faired well either.
