Activision has seemingly confirmed the recent rumour that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will launch with remastered versions of all of the multiplayer maps from 2009's Modern Warfare 2.
Over the past few days, one of the biggest rumours surrounding Modern Warfare 3 (no, not the one from 2011 with the exact same name, why on earth would you think that?) is that it's going to launch with all of the multiplayer maps featured in 2009's Modern Warfare 2. The rumour originally started from Twitter user el_bobberto and has since been heavily hinted at via a marketing move from Activision.

As pointed out by reliable Call of Duty news site charlieINTEL on Twitter, a mysterious phone number that appeared in a trailer for Modern Warfare 3 is one that you can actually text in real life and get specific responses to, such as sending the word "Zombies" to essentially get that game mode all but confirmed. It's since been discovered that, if you text it the names of maps from Modern Warfare 2, it'll respond with those same names back and a pin next to the name, all but confirming the rumour to be true.
It's clear from charlieINTEL's tweets about both this and the Zombies tease that the number has been programmed to respond to specific commands, which means that Activision has intentionally given it the ability to parrot back the names of maps from the original Modern Warfare 2. With that in mind, it stands to reason that Modern Warfare 3 will really feature all of the maps from the 2009 fan-favourite.
