Update []:
As spotted by Gematsu yet again, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has been rated in Brazil. This follows the previous rating in Korea, and isn’t necessarily confirmation of anything, but does suggest the title is nearing release.
While the title was surprisingly absent from the latest State of Play, a panel is planned for SXSW next month, where we’ll likely get a lot more information on the game.
Original Story: If there really is to be a State of Play livestream taking place next week, then Death Stranding 2 looks increasingly likely to be the headline act. A new age rating for the PS5 title has been published by the South Korean board GRAC. While an age rating doesn't always indicate a release date is near — Hollow Knight: Silksong received one in April 2024 and is yet to be seen — it does suggest the game is in a place where it can be submitted for evaluation by an external company.
The age rating from South Korean describes the PS5 sequel as «an adventure game about delivering parcels across a post-apocalyptic world and connecting cities to save humanity». It sounds just like the original game, then. There'll be «excessive violence», «vulgar language, profanity, and swearing», drug use, smoking, and drinking scenes in the game, according to the description attached to the rating deeming it «not available to minors».
What's also fuelling speculation of Death Stranding 2 being part of a potential State of Play presentation is that Hideo Kojima tweeted yesterday he's editing a trailer «for the first time in a year». There's a possibility this could be for the project he has in the works with Xbox, called OD, but with Death Stranding 2 the closest to release, it's more than likely going to be On the Beach. The game is currently slated to release later this year.
He followed up the original tweet with an image of the editing suite, displaying his trademark caption: «A Hideo Kojima Game.» See it below:
Do you think Death Stranding 2 will be at the rumoured
