Following its latest State of Play, Sony’s Q3 fiscal year 2025 financial results are now available and confirm 75 million units shipped for the PS5. During the three months ending December 31st, 2024, the console shipped 9.5 million units, up from 1.3 million year-over-year.
Other notable figures include 95.9 million software sales for the PS5 and PS4, an increase of 6.2 million over the previous year. However, first-party game sales reached 16.2 million, down by 4.6 million, with full-game digital downloads constituting 74 percent of the total (dropping three percent).
It makes sense, considering third-party titles like Black Myth: Wukong and Silent Hill 2 remake carried the console’s line-up for 2024’s second half. As for the PlayStation Network, Sony confirmed 129 million monthly active users, up from 123 million in the previous fiscal year.
With mandatory account linking for select PlayStation titles abolished it should be interesting to see if this number drops. Stay tuned for updates in the meantime.
