The Last Case of Benedict Fox, which released day one on Xbox and PC Game Pass in April 2023, is getting a new Definitive Edition upgrade on April 26. It will be free for PC and Xbox players, thanks to Xbox Game Pass, while the new edition will cost $24.99 for PS5 players.
In day-one Xbox Game Pass title The Last Case of Benedict Fox, players take on the role of the titular protagonist who, while bound to a demon, tries to uncover the mystery of his father's death. The game features all the iconic mechanics of a Metroidvania game, being further complete with intensive puzzles, solid platforming, and face-offs with Lovecraftian monsters. Now, the new content seeks to expand on all of that.
The Definitive edition will introduce a new combat arena (new challenges, demon fights, and a place to master skills), add brand new quests and puzzles, introduce new story content that delves deeper into Benedict's past, overhauls combat, adds new animations, and makes a handful of changes to traversal. In other words, the upgrades seem like the total package and also take further aim at some launch criticisms regarding The Last Case of Benedict Fox. Of course, the fact that it is free on Xbox Game Pass might welcome back some players who otherwise dropped or moved on from the game.
At the same time, Metroidvania games aren't everyone's cup of tea, and Xbox Game Pass currently has a lot on offer for March too. Recently, Xbox Game Pass added SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom — Rehydrated and NBA 2K24. Not counting The Last Case of Benedict Fox, there are 6 more games confirmed for the service this month, and it stands to reason that there will be more reveals and maybe even another surprise before it's all said and done. So far, that includes Control, No More Heroes 3, Lightyear Frontier, MLB The Show 24, Diablo 4, and Open Roads.
Xbox Game Pass continuously proves itself to be the gift that keeps on giving, with March having plenty of day-one releases on Xbox Game Pass
