Terra Invicta is available on PC Game Pass as part of the Game Preview program, starting today. This means Game Pass subscribers should be aware that this game is not necessarily finished, as developers continue to work on it based on fan feedback. However, Microsoft's subscription service is no doubt a great way to gather even more feedback, even if the game has been in early access of sorts since late 2022.
Many games have come to Game Pass in preview mode and benefited from it. Recently, both Lightyear Frontier and Palworld came to Game Pass in Game Preview mode, and Palworld's popularity speaks for itself. It remains to be seen how exactly Terra Invicta is received, but there's plenty to be had here nonetheless.
Terra Invicta is a grand strategy game not unlike Civilization. In it, an alien invasion divides humanity into seven factions, and players must lead one to victory across the solar system.
Once players control a faction, they will determine the fate of Earth before moving onto the stars and expanding across a dynamic solar system. The gameplay is very fluid, and this makes for some exciting strategic gameplay, especially with things are forced to change on the fly. Terra Invicta also bills itself as a game where hard sci-fi meets strategy, meaning it aims to be incredibly thorough and systems rich, which is what the 4X/grand strategy genre is known for.
Of course, hard sci-fi and strategy are not going to appeal to everyone. Xbox Game Pass is not one to rest on its luarels, and more content is coming on March 28. Open Roads, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, and Diablo 4 are all coming to Xbox Game Pass, and they each scratch a different itch. In other words, between today and the end of the month, Xbox Game Pass has something for hard sci-fi and strategy fans, dungeon crawling hack-and-slash looter fans, fans of «interactive movies,» and racing fans.
