Earlier this week, we were given our first good look at Assassin's Creed Mirage, as Ubisoft showed off a range of Basim's abilities in a gameplay demonstration during this month's Ubisoft Forward Showcase. For the most part, fans liked what they saw, as Eagle Vision, parkour, and gadgets such as throwing knives and smoke bombs are making their return.
However, there was one part of the demo that fans are a little divided on, and that's Basim's fancy chain assassination ability that makes him look like he's teleporting across short distances. During this part, we see Basim perched above three guards, as he then then proceeds to mark and assassinate them all in no time flat, seemingly bending space and time to teleport between each one.

The debate was kicked off by u/SadeqWasTaken on the Assassin's Creed subreddit (thanks GamesRadar), who was confused as to why Basim could teleport everywhere despite him not having any magical abilities. They were quickly told that the official explanation is that it's actually Animus shenanigans, as Basim is moving too quickly for the Animus to keep up with him, but that hasn't satisfied those who were hoping for a more grounded experience.
In a different, much spicier, post, there are people like u/riverkarma69420 who think the ability "feels like a cheese", and it would've been more interesting to see the situation play out without the power, while u/anNPC thinks that it "defeats most of the reason for parkour and positioning in the first place."
