A successor to Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 in all but name… Did you ever truly believe that this day would come? It's a great time to be a Dragon Ball fan, because Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is a roaring return to that classic arena fighter formula, where an absolutely massive character roster is the main selling point.
It helps, of course, that the game itself is damn good fun. We awarded it a 'great' 8/10 in our Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero PS5 review, bigging up its punchy combat system despite initial frustrations. «It's just about as bombastic as arena fighters get, and while the game could do a much better job of teaching players the ropes, there's a technical depth to combat that makes the learning curve feel incredibly rewarding,» we wrote.

Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he's played 'em all. A little too much, some might say.
I don't know if I played any of the Budokai Tenkaichi, but I still have a couple of the older Budokai games for PS2. I really enjoyed these, but goodness, how many times can you possibly retread the same story beats? This game does look cool, but it'll be one I watch on Twitch.
Where is the poll option for «No, because my next quarter of gaming will be consumed my Metaphor instead.»?
