Sony’s got dibs on almost 10 minutes of PS5 footage from the upcoming Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. To be fair, for those of you who’ve been following the game, there’ll be few surprises here: it’s the NES original, presented in the Japanese publisher’s stunning new engine.
You get a tasty mix of high-resolution sprites and modern 3D graphics, which makes for a really unique look – albeit one that’s fairly commonplace now, in the aftermath of Octopath Traveler and other re-releases like Live A Live.
This gameplay includes some overworld exploration and a handful of battles. Remember, perhaps confusingly, a bundled remake of Dragon Quest 1 & 2, presented in this same HD-2D style, will follow in 2025.
«Who's even complaining about this?»
There has been controversy surrounding this remake recently, as some of the late Akira Toriyama’s original artwork has been edited to cover-up the female warrior character. That led to the series’ veteran creators ranting about America, although they later clarified that mistranslation had taken their comments out of context.

Although I dislike the first person view during attack phase in battles (which I know is used in the original game), this looks amazing and I'll surely buy it when the price is right.
Seems like a great remote play game.
I might wishlist it.
