Most PS5 users should now have access to the 'Welcome' hub — a customisable screen that sits on your console's home menu, which basically just gives you a bunch of PS5 features at a glance.
You can choose to see your friends list, your friends' recent game-related activities, your Trophy count, your controller's battery charge… you can even stick PS Store wishlist reminders on there.
And, perhaps most importantly, you can customise the Welcome hub's background using either preset designs or your own screenshots. It's not quite the custom backgrounds or themes of the PS4 era, but it's the closest thing we've got.
The question, then, is whether you're actually making use of the new Welcome hub. While it is convenient to have all of that console information sitting on a single screen, we do wonder if some users will simply skip over it more often than not.

Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he's played 'em all. A little too much, some might say.
I’m using it all the time, but only to check my storage and controller battery life, so not sure if that should even count as “using it”, but I am.
