Naoki Yoshida, better known as Yoshi-P among fans, says he wants to direct another "major" Final Fantasy instalment. This comes after he previously suggested he would not lead the development of Final Fantasy 17, something he now appears to be reconsidering.
This comes from Famitsu (translated by Aitai Kimochi), as reported by Eurogamer. Here, Yoshi-P makes it clear he's interested in leading another Final Fantasy sequel, having just worked as a producer on Final Fantasy 16 in between directing various Final Fantasy 14 expansions.
"It's completely undecided as of now, but if the opportunity arises to work on the next major title, I would like to direct it myself," says Yoshida.
He also explained that his next game probably won't be his last, as he feels he's at his "peak" right now and can "push even further".
"We don't know what the future holds, so why not challenge ourselves each time?" he says. "I think that's definitely a better way to look at it. I hope that I can take even greater leaps to the likes I have not ever imagined."

If Yoshi-P leads another major Final Fantasy game, possibly even Final Fantasy 17, then he'll have an incredibly busy few years ahead of him. He's previously said that he hopes to get three more Final Fantasy 14 expansions out in the next decade, so he doesn't seem to have any plans to stop working on the MMO anytime soon. The next expansion, Dawntrail, is set to launch this year, scheduled for sometime this summer, and Yoshi-P said he has ideas for two others as well.
It'll be quite a juggling act to also work on another single-player game, but he already managed it with Final Fantasy 16. This launched last year to critical acclaim, getting a DLC expansion in December. More DLC is in the works on top of its PC port.
