Nine Sols, the highly anticipated new title from Detention dev Red Candle, will launch on 29th May – but only on PC for now. The side-scrolling action game, which is heavily inspired by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, has been in development for quite some time, and blew past its crowdfunding targets a few years ago.
On exploring its culture and reinventing itself
“From the creators of award-winning psychological horror games Detention and Devotion, comes Red Candle Games’ latest title Nine Sols,” the blurb reads. “The studio aims to deliver a stylised action platformer that’s cohesive and complimentary with its lore-rich narrative.”
As we discovered during our visit late last year, Red Candle is a fairly small team, and will likely be looking to launch on consoles later. We know PlayStation’s indies evangelist Shuhei Yoshida was a huge fan when he tested the title at the Taipei Game Show earlier this year, so let’s hope he has the ear of the developer and a PS5 port is on the table.

Would like to see more PC games mentioned, whether it comes to PS or not.
