Google recently annonced that Gemini Nano is coming to Pixel 8. The feature will be a part of an upcoming Pixel Feature Drop, and once it is available, you can go ahead and start using it on your phone. However, the company has now confirmed that you will have to enable the feature manually on your phone through developer options. If you want to enable Gemini Nano on Pixel 8 and you are wondering how to do that, this article is for you.
Before we get started, it is worth noting that Gemini Nano on Pixel 8 is not available at the time of writing. I am still writing this tutorial, so when the update does roll out, you will have an easier time enabling it without any issues whatsoever. With that out of the way, let's look at how you can enable Gemini Nano on Pixel 8.
Step 1: On your Pixel 8, head over to Settings.
Step 2: Once you are there, scroll all the way down to About phone.
Step 3: Find the Build number and tap it 5 to 7 times until you get a message saying you are a developer now. You might be asked to input your PIN, however.
Step 4: Head back to Settings and look for System.
Step 5: Once you are in the System, tap on Developer options
Now, as mentioned before, you cannot really go ahead and enable Gemini Nano on Pixel 8 just right now. If you want to, you are going to have to wait for the Pixel Feature Drop, which should be rolling out in the coming months. The guide is to ensure that you are fully aware of where that setting is going to be found. As for why Google has put it, there is something that concerns me. Is it because enabling Gemini Nano on Pixel 8 can cause some instabilities, or is there a different reason? I guess we are going to have to wait for Google to release the AI model before we can figure out what the issue is if there is any.
