Xbox Game Pass loses seven games today, while adding two more including a day one release. Xbox Game Pass subscribers get Merge & Blade and Soul Hackers 2 today, while losing the following titles: Alien: Isolation, Crown Trick, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Far: Changing Tides, Final Fantasy 13: Lightning Returns, Madden NFL 21, andOctopath Traveler.
By now, Xbox Game Pass subscribers are familiar with the general cadence of removals. Games are removed from the service midway through and at the end of any given month. Obviously, with February being shorter, it seems these games are leaving a little sooner than most others would, but the difference is just a couple of days. At the same time, additions to Xbox Game Pass can really happen whenever, with new additions sometimes lining up with removals too.

All of the aforementioned games are being removed from every version of Xbox Game Pass, but it's worth noting a few of these games have sequels that may be more enticing to fans elsewhere. Octopath Traveler 2 just released a few days ago, to solid reviews, whileMadden NFL 21 is rather old at this point. In fact, the developer and publisher are reportedly prepping forMadden NFL 24, which has been supposedly described as make or break for the franchise.
While there are some major departures like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Alien: Isolation, perhaps Final Fantasy 13: Lightning Returns is the biggest deal. While this particular subset of the franchise has always been a little less well-received, this was the final franchise game on the service prior to today. With its removal, there are no more Final Fantasy games on Xbox Game Pass, though many of them can now be found on PlayStation
