A new month means a new batch of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers to claim for their digital libraries, with Battlefield 2042, Code Vein, and Minecraft Dungeons available now. Sony has firmly established certain patterns when it comes to the PlayStation Plus games every month, but it broke away from some of those traditions when it came to the free PS Plus games for March 2023.
While Sony typically announces the next batch of free PS Plus games on the last Wednesday of every month, it broke from that pattern with the free PS Plus games for March 2023 announcement. It instead decided to reveal them as part of its latest PlayStation State of Play presentation, letting the cat out of the bag early and confirming the three titles subscribers would be able to claim for the month of March.
PS Plus Helped Indie Game Player Count Explode
As previously stated, anyone signed up for PS Plus Essential, the cheapest and most basic tier of the service, can claim Battlefield 2042, Code Vein, and Minecraft Dungeons starting now. Battlefield 2042 has both native PS4 and PS5 versions to choose from, while only PS4 versions of Code Vein and Minecraft Dungeons exist, though the games are readily playable on PS5 thanks to the console's backward compatibility.
While the free PS Plus games for March 2023 are available now, those signed up for the pricier tiers may be wondering when their next batch of games will be available. Unfortunately, Sony has not confirmed a specific date for the PS Plus Extra and Premium games for March 2023, but it has revealed some of the titles that subscribers can look forward to when the games are added a little later this month.
