Porsche CEO Oliver Blume confirmed the company is cooking up a new all-electric SUV with all the bells and whistles. The vehicle, which has not yet been named, is set to become the brand's flagship electric SUV with more premium features than its forthcoming electric Macan and Cayenne SUVs.
All three SUVs will help Porsche achieve its goal of 80% all-electric sales by 2030. The Macan EV will hit dealers in 2024, starting around $80,000. Porsche has not disclosed a date for the Cayenne EV. The flagship SUV will likely follow both, coming "at the end of the decade," according(Opens in a new window) to TechCrunch, possibly around 2028.
By being "positioned above" the Cayenne and Macan, as Porsche put it(Opens in a new window), the flagship SUV will feature a larger size, new automated driving functions, upgraded cabin technology, and lightning fast charging speeds.
"This new vehicle concept is designed to offer strong performance and automated driving functions with the typical Porsche flyline, along with a completely new experience inside the vehicle," Porsche says.
One of the most compelling features will be the ability to charge the battery much faster than other vehicles on the market today. The SUV will inherit technology from Porsche's Mission R concept car, revealed last September, according(Opens in a new window) to Car & Driver. That car features a 900-volt electrical system that can reportedly charge from 5% to 80% in just 15 minutes.
