NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 12 is coming this year, at least according to a Warner Bros. Discovery earnings call. The studio didn’t officially make an announcement, but it may do so later this week. Pro fighting game player SonicFox said he anticipates an “MK12 announcement” this week, with Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb following up (seemingly sarcastic) with, “I think they’re going to space.”
Jez Corden of Windows Central also joined in, stating, “In September!” Which is the same release month as Starfield. Even assuming that Grubb and Corden are joking around, it’s odd that SonicFox would randomly mention a Mortal Kombat 12 announcement for this week. As always, time will tell if this is true or not.
Platforms for the sequel aren’t confirmed, but Warner Bros. Discovery touted “ambitious launch projections.” Stay tuned for more details, hopefully, this week. The publisher also has Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League releasing in May for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC, though rumors claim it’s delayed. It could arrive later this year or even in 2024.
I anticipate an MK12 announcement next week..
