Bethesda has announced that Ghostwire: Tokyo will be coming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass on 12th April 2023, bringing an end to the timed exclusivity that the game had for PlayStation 5.
But that’s not all! Ghostwire: Tokyo will also be joining PlayStation Plus Extra as part of the service’s March library update on 21st March.
Also, there’s a fresh and free content drop for all platforms on 12th April called Spider’s Thread. This will add new areas, new missions, new powers, new collectibles and new enemies to the game, as well as a new roguelite game mode.
Given the current acrimony between Sony and Microsoft over the latter’s attempted purchase of Activision Blizzard, and how many headlines have been made from the back and forth over whether or not Microsoft’s companies will license games to Sony’s streaming platform… well… this is kind of proof that they will, isn’t it?
Of course, this could have also been a part of the original contract signed between Bethesda and Sony when the game’s timed exclusivity was struck, and it’s possible that there were clauses to say that the game had to have feature and content parity to later platform launches and that Sony had dibs on it being added to a game library subscription.

Ghostwire has a lot of potential as a new franchise and I’m looking forward to seeing what Tango Gameworks does with it next.”
