Polish indie game developer, The Astronauts, announced today that its upcoming dark fantasy first-person shooter Witchfire will release on Early Access this September.
As part of Summer Game Fest 2023, the developer confirmed that Witchfire will be released on September 20 of this year on the Epic Games Store. Outside of a firm release date, we also got a new gameplay trailer to tie us over until September.
The new trailer, which you can watch below, gives us another look at the grim and bleak fantasy world players will venture across.
Witchfire was announced back in 2017 at The Game Awards that year and news on the game has been seldom for the last several years. It would not be until 2022, at last year's Summer Games Fest, that the developers would share an update on Witchfire, where we got some new gameplay footage and a "coming soon" release window. However, The Astronauts announced in a blog post in October of last year that the game was shifting to an open world, and as a result, the game was delayed into 2023.
