Ubisoft has confirmed that Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 is in the works, with Massive Entertainment leading development. The French publisher also announced it tapped Julian Gerighty as the new executive producer for The Division brand. He will dive into the new role once his work as creative director on Star Wars Outlaws is wrapped up.
In a Twitter post, Massive announced Gerighty’s move to the brand. According to the announcement, he “will oversee all games and products, including Tom Clancy’s The Division 3, led by Massive Entertainment who is actively building a team for the game.”
Massive is currently underway developing both Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws. The Swedish company, acquired by Ubisoft in 2008, is also behind the first two games in The Division franchise. Once Star Wars Outlaws is shipped, Gerighty will fully move into his executive producer role and help “build a team” for the third game. Until then, he remains “fully committed to making Star Wars Outlaws a success both for the development team and fans.”
Ubisoft confirming The Division 3 certainly isn’t a surprise, with Gerighty casually mentioning that the franchise has earned around 40 million players.
“We may have over 40 million players, but The Division is still in its early years as a franchise,” Gerighty said in a news release. “There are so many incredible stories to tell, places to explore and people to protect.”
There is some strong sentiment that The Division is here to stay and grow. With today’s announcement, The Division 3 becomes the third game in the series currently in development under Ubisoft.
