Stellar Blade studio Shift Up has gifted all of its employees a PlayStation 5 Pro and an end-of-year bonus following the success of the PS5 action game.
The consoles were presented to Shift Up’s around 300 employees at a company event held in Seoul on Monday. Each employee will receive a bonus of 5 million won (about $3,400), it said.
Speaking to the South Korean publication Naver, a Shift Up representative said the bonuses were intended to encourage the existing talent at the company.
Last summer, Shift Up achieved South Korea’s largest initial public offering (IPO) for a video game company in three years, raising 435 billion won ($320 million) on its first day of trading. Shift Up said it planned to use the IPO proceeds to diversify its game portfolios.
Shift Up was founded in 2013 by Hyung-Tae Kim, who remains as the company’s largest holder after the listing. The company’s second-largest shareholder is Tencent Holdings.
Stellar Blade was released for PlayStation 5 last year. ShiftUp has claimed that sales of the game have exceeded 1 million units worldwide.
Shift Up recently said it’s considering releasing Stellar Blade for PC in 2025. “The release is being considered within 2025,” it said. “Considering recent trends such as Steam‘s expanding market share in the AAA game sector and the global success of Black Myth: Wukong, we expect the performance on PC to exceed that on consoles.”
Last year the South Korean company also confirmed it was exploring the possibility of developing a Stellar Blade sequel.
