Kate Mara (House of Cards, Pose) has been tapped to join the cast for Apple TV+‘s newest psychological thriller miniseries. Further details about the Emmy nominee’s character are still being kept under wraps. It is based on Araminta Hall’s 2021 novel of the same name.
This serves as Mara’s latest TV project, after over a year since starring in 2023’s thriller miniseries Class of ’09, and Black Mirror Season 6. She currently has two upcoming movies lined-up for her: the thriller movie The Dutchman with Andre Holland and Zazie Beetz; and the sci-fi horror The Astronaut with Gabriel Luna.
The Imperfect Women cast will be led by The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss and Scandal’s Kerry Washington, who are both serving serving executive producers. Described as an unconventional and psychological thriller, the series is created and written by Physical’s Annie Weisman. This marks Weisman’s latest collaboration with Apple TV+ after previously wrapping up the Rose Byrne-led three-season dramedy last September 2023. The limited drama is executive produced by Lindsey McManus, Pilar Savone, and Hall. It is a co-production between 20th Television and Apple Studios.
“The series will examine a crime that shatters the lives of a decades-long friendship of three women,” reads the logline. “Imperfect Women is a mystery complicated by perspective that explores guilt and retribution, love and betrayal, and the compromises we make that alter our lives irrevocably. As the investigation unravels, so does the truth about how even the closest relationships can change over time.”
