The Diplomat Season 3 Cast Adds The West Wing’s Bradley Whitford
Emmy Award winner Bradley Whitford has officially signed on to join Season 3 cast for the next installment of Netflix‘s acclaimed political thriller. This comes after nearly three months since the show returned with its 10-episode second season. The latest installment earned a Certified Fresh rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 44 reviews.
Whitford’s casting will reunite him with The West Wing writer Debora Cahn and co-star Allison Janney, after nearly two decades since the NBC drama concluded its seven-season run. He is set to portray a recurring character, who is described as the First Gentleman to Janney’s President Grace Penn.
The Diplomat Season 3 cast will feature returning cast members Keri Russell as Kate Wyler, Rufus Sewell as Hal Wyler, David Gyasi as Austin Dennison, Ali Ahn as Eidra Park, Rory Kinnear as Nicol Trowbridge, Ato Essandoh, as Stuart Heyford, Celia Imrie as Margaret Roylin, Michael McKean as William Rayburn, Nana Mensah as Billie Appiah, Miguel Sandoval as Miguel Ganon, and more.
The series is created and executive produced by Debora Cahn, who is also serving as the showrunner. The high-stakes political drama is executive produced by Russell, Janice Williams, and Simon Cellan Jones, with Dan Toland producing. The next installment is currently in production in London and New York. At the moment, Season 3 has no target release date yet.
“Season 3 flips the chessboard,” Cahn said in a recent interview after the renewal was announced. “In Season 3, Kate lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want.”
