Nintendo has confirmed the next Nintendo Direct will take place tomorrow, Tuesday 18th June, at 3PM BST (UK time).
You can watch it here:
The stream will run for around 40 minutes and will mainly focus on Nintendo Switch games coming in the second half of 2024. Sadly for all of us impatient gamers, they also state that “There will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation.” – this follows up on Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa taking to Twitter to say the same thing just last month, even though a Switch 2 reveal will take place this fiscal year.
So what will be featured at Nintendo Direct?
There’s likely to be some last second check ins for soon-to-be released games like Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition (coming 18th July), and it’d be neat to see more of World of Goo 2 ahead of August, or the adorable The Plucky Squire.
Given how late in the Nintendo Switch life cycle we are, and recent trends, there’s also hope for some surprise and/or rumoured remasters as well. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Twilight Princess would be very welcome remasters for Switch, and since we’ve had Metroid Prime Remastered, Nintendo could continue to pad out the time before Metroid Prime 4 with remasters of the rest of the trilogy.
But really, we’re at the point where we don’t really know what Nintendo can announce. They’re surely trying to keep their powder dry on Switch 2 launch games, so it’s best to temper expectations, but there could be some nice surprises, regardless.
