Spin-off title Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, originally developed by High Impact Games, will be freed from its PSP and PS2 shackles next week, when it’s ported to PS5 and PS4 as part of Sony’s PS Plus Premium catalogue. The bite-sized adventure – which can be beaten in around five to six hours – takes Insomniac Games’ tried and trusted gameplay loop and scales it down, which is entertaining enough if you’re looking for some mindless action.

Releasing officially in Europe for the first time
All of the series staples are present and correct in this version, including weapon levelling, minigames, and even Clank gameplay. Many of the reviews upon release were incredibly positive, due to the way in which the game effortlessly transitioned traditional Ratchet & Clank gameplay to a handheld environment. We’d expect the reception to be a little cooler for this emulated effort, considering you can play the vastly superior Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on the PS5 already.
Nevertheless, it’s great to see this game resurrected from the late noughties, and made readily available on contemporary consoles. We’re hopeful Secret Agent Clank isn’t far behind, because despite its weaker critical reception, it steers the series in a more interesting direction which few got to experience at launch.

The non-Insomniac Ratchet games aren't perfect, but they're still fun entries into the series. Glad more people get to give them a try.
