Saber Interactive and developer Stormind Games have announced that A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead will launch on 17th October 2024, the horror game based on the popular film franchise coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The trailer shows a mixture of gameplay and cinematics, and how the game puts and emphasis on staying as quiet as possible. A bit tricky when you can accidentally knock into buckets, when a gantry can give out beneath your feet, and when needing to use an asthma inhaler.
Previous trailers have shown a good deal more, including introducing the relationship between Alex, our asthmatic college student protagonist, and her boyfriend Martin. The two will have to survive together, and there’s some gameplay and narrative touches like them using basic hand and head communication to direct one another, while the world is daubed with messages saying not to scream even in the “safe” room, and plenty more.
It’s not all going to be silent, sneaky horror though, with high action moments that will involve cars, shotguns and alarms, which will absolutely bring those monsters right to where you are. Best to avoid those, eh?
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is in development by Stormind Games, who are best known for the psychological horror Remothered: Broken Porcelain and Tormented Fathers, as well as action RPG Batora: Lost Haven. This looks to be a big step up for the studio, but they’re leaning into the right ideas and tropes that will fit well with a video game, though the trailer clearly plucked out some of the more action-y moments that put the Quiet Place monsters in frame. I’d expect the overarching pacing to be much more considered and slower paced, though.
