Today, ArenaNet revealed that the second content update for Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure, called The Realm of Dreams, will be available for free starting February 27.
Players will be able to explore a brand new portion of Nayos, home to the dreadful Kryptis. Two new legendary bosses will be introduced to Convergences, the nighttime 50-player group instances introduced with November's Through the Veil update.
Arguably the biggest additions of The Realm of Dreams update are the brand new weapon proficiencies. Unlike previous expansions, Secrets of the Obscure did not add new Elite Specialization. However, starting next week, each of the nine professions (classes in Guild Wars 2) will be able to wield new weapons:
The new weapon proficiencies were first tested in a beta event a couple of months ago, providing feedback for a series of improvements that ArenaNet has made for the final version. You can read about those here.
Moreover, Legendary Relics are being introduced, as well as the first tier of the new Legendary Obsidian Armor Set. The Realm of Dreams update includes an overhaul to the Wizard's Vault to provide players with new items and rewards, while the Temple of Febe Strike mission introduces Challenge Mode, a harder difficulty option for the most skilled adventurers. Last but not least, the update adds a new Ranger pet and expands the Astral Ward Mastery line.
Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure will receive yet another free content update later this year, ahead of the next expansion also scheduled to launch in 2024. You can read more about that in our recent interview with ArenaNet.
