The Tekken World Tour Finals take place this weekend in Tokyo, Japan, with the globe's best Tekken 8 players vying for victory.
Historically, Bandai Namco has saved big DLC character reveals for the finals, as that's when it's practically guaranteed a hardcore audience of Tekken fans. However, the publisher has preemptively confirmed that this year's event will not feature any character reveals.
The confirmation has come as a bit of a surprise, since this next reveal will be for the final character of Tekken 8's first season. It's widely assumed that the developer's been cooking up something significant, because it already went hard with the return of Heihachi back in October.
Most are betting on this final Season 1 character being a guest — someone who'll make headlines. And so, fans are wondering whether the reveal will actually take place at The Game Awards 2024, on the 12th December.
It's not a bad shout, but it feels like this character needs to be a big deal if they're going to be announced at Geoff Keighley's mainstream show.
For what it's worth, Tekken 8 players will still want to keep an eye on the finals. Not just for the pro gameplay, but because Bandai Namco is sharing new information with regards to upcoming updates. Hopefully it'll have something exciting in store.
