Striking 1930s Cartoon FPS MOUSE: P.I. for Hire Targets PS5, PS4 Next Year | Push Square

We’ve been keeping our beady little eyes on Fumi Games’ striking 1930s noir-style shooter MOUSE: P.I. for Hire for quite some time. We’re pleased to learn it’s been confirmed for PS5 and PS4, then, with a tentative 2025 release window attached.

The press release reads: “Inspired by the best of 30s rubber hose animation and the classic noir style, this retro shooter is a story-driven experience that will take you on a thrilling journey through a dangerous and corrupt city.”

You’ll find an arsenal of period appropriate weaponry, including a Revolver, Tommy Gun, Hammer, Carcano, and Dynamite. In addition, you’ll be able to use the “Fantastic-o-Matic power-up system” to upgrade your firearms.

“To survive, you’ll need to stay sharp and keep your wits about you. With every step you take, you’ll uncover more of the story and find yourself caught up in a web of deceit and murder,” the blurb continues. “So gear up, get ready to fight, and take on the challenges of MOUSE: P.I. for Hire – a retro shooter that will take you on an unforgettable adventure.”

Disney lost the copyright for the rubber hose version of Mickey Mouse, as seen in Steamboat Willie, which is why we're seeing this game and the dev feels safe enough to not worry about a cease and desist.

If this game is even half as good as it looks, it'll probably be my GOTY.
