Infinity Nikki, the outrageously twee free-to-play open world fashion-‘em-up by a former Breath of the Wild director, will get its long-awaited technical playtest on the PS5 soon. This means your opportunity to play this cosy platformer is close, after betas ran on PC and smartphones previously.
Recruitment is open now, and will end on 1st November. All you need to do to be in with a chance of participating is fill in the following survey. There’s no guarantee of entry, but you’re probably more likely to gain entry if you have experience with gachas and previous Nikki titles.
It’s worth noting that any progress you make in the technical playtest will eventually be wiped, and this won’t be representative of the final product. We expect it will include the same content as the aforementioned betas available on other platforms, which mostly focused on exploration and some platforming quests.
For those who haven’t been following this game, it’s based on a long-running series of successful dress-up titles, although this is the biggest in scale yet. As an open world game, you need to collect and wear different costumes in order to unlock magical abilities, which enable you to progress through the world.
Pretty as can be
It’s a bit like a cross between Genshin Impact and the old Nintendo DS Style Savvy series, if you remember that. There’s no actual release date attached to the game beyond a vague 2024 window, but these technical tests presumably represent the final stages of development before a full release..
