Street Fighter 6 Announcer Hikaru Takahashi Revealed; New “Rally mode” Introduced for All Commentators

Previously on Street Fighter 6, the game’s last three base characters, Zangief, Cammy, and Lily, were shown in-game, complete with supers, new stages, and more details. Over on the game features side of things, two other parties were demonstrated during today’s Capcom Showcase. Let’s break it down. First off, the game’s final color commentator has been revealed, and it’s Hikaru Takahashi. Hikaru will join seven other commentators in-game, which players can enable and disable at their leisure.

Capcom also released a trailer a short bit ago, which you can see below.

Hikaru Takahashi is the game’s fourth Japanese Commentator, bringing the total count to eight in the base roster. The trailer also pointed out some other details relating to the Commentator system. First is subtitle support; the game will have all commentators fully subtitled and can be enabled in 13 different languages, including English, French, Japanese, and others.

Secondly, a commentator style change was introduced as well, Rally Mode. This feature can be enabled for either player, and the commentary style shifts to one more focused on cheering the selected player on, adding a bit of a personal flair to commentary. Finally, both were shown in the trailer, with new gameplay footage of previously revealed characters like JP and Ken.

In addition, the Capcom Showcase today also mentions the upcoming Capcom Cup X, a competitive tournament series hosted by Capcom themselves. The big finale for the bracket has over $2 million in a prize pool, with a million going to the Capcom Cup Champion. The 2023 season of Capcom Pro Tour aims to kick off by Summer and will be comprised of offline, online, and the regional World Warrior program. This allows players to qualify
