Remember when Skyrim ruled the world? At its peak, even those who wouldn't typically find themselves playing RPGs were sinking hours into the story of the Dragonborn. I really cannot overstate just how much it dominated the gaming community. And back then, the funniest joke ever was quoting that NPC that said he "used to be an adventurer" like us, until he "took an arrow to the knee". It was the height of comedy.
So, it's no surprise that all of these later, Bethesda has shoved multiple "arrow to the knee" jokes into Starfield. Yes, this is long after the jokes were actually funny, but it's such a nostalgic callback that you can't help but smile. There's no doubt loads of other Skyrim references to be discovered, but this is the one that immediately jumps out to fans, as NPCs across the galaxy reference our favourite Whiterun guard, reminding us of a simpler time.

These jokes are being shared across the Starfield subreddit by players making the most of the early access period. And even though the game has only been playable for a few hours, they've found no shortage of easter eggs.
One of the first to be spotted is, surprise surprise, a throwaway line from a generic NPC. Just... read it yourself. It's pretty obvious what it's referring to here.
If that wasn't enough for you, another player found one that's a little more subtle. Here, there's a symbol that shows an arrow literally going through someone's knee, so you can see the horrific incident in action.
If you were sick of the jokes back in the early 2010s, then I'm afraid you're out of luck here - Bethesda is definitely having fun with them. And the devs have probably heard enough
