Alone in the Dark has been delayed into January 2024 so it can avoid the "chaotic" October release window.
Alone in the Dark is now planned to launch on January 16, 2024. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While the extra time will be used for polish, the publisher admits that the delay is primarily to avoid clashing with the likes of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Alan Wake 2, as October is set to be one of the busiest gaming months in recent memory.

"We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible," reads a statement from THQ Nordic, explaining that October was just too busy to launch in.
"To honor this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16th, 2024. This extension will serve a dual purpose: not only will it permit us to meticulously perfect the gaming experience, but it will also grant us the opportunity to fully immerse ourselves in the remarkable releases of October."
Alone in the Dark is described as a "reimaging" of the first game in the series, initially released all the way back in 1992. However, this will actually be the third game in the series to carry the title "Alone in the Dark," as there was a reboot in 2008 as well. This was met with mixed to negative reviews, sitting at 55 on Metacritic.
This attempt at an Alone in the Dark reboot is helmed by a new developer on the series, Pieces Interactive. The devs have compared it to the recent Resident Evil remakes, which have been immensely popular. If it can really reach that standard, then long-suffering fans of the series will be in for a treat.
